Accessibility Statement
we are Committed to Digital Accessibility
Inclusivity is our top priority. Medway Council is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We strive to provide an optimised digital experience for all users who come to our website, regardless of individual ability or assistive technology used to access it.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provides requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Ongoing Efforts to Ensure Accessible Content
We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance and remediate any issues to ensure we meet or exceed the standards. Testing of our digital content is performed by CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility) expert using Deque-developed automated testing software (based on the axe® rules library), screen readers, a color contrast analyzer, keyboard-only navigation techniques, and a variety of bookmarklets.
